Step 1. Find a calm spot, somewhere where you can be alone for a few minutes.
Step 2. Sit or lay down.
Step 3. Close your eyes and observe the natural flow of your breath.
Step 4. As you observe your breath, allow any thoughts, emotions, or sensations to freely appear as you keep your focus on your breath. Don’t try to fight them or “think about nothing”, just notice its presence and then return right back to your breath.
Step 5. Repeat for as long as you like and then slowly return back from the meditative state.

Voila! It can be as simple as that.

3. Take It Easy

There is no need to rush into it. It can be tempting to over-analyze meditation and dissect what it is, what it means, and so on. If you are a beginner I suggest you start slowly. Don’t pay too much attention to all the mysticism surrounding meditation. It doesn’t have to be religious. It doesn’t have to take hours upon hours. It doesn’t have to be tedious. Meditation can be whatever you make it. I suggest you choose a short guided meditation and simply try it out. I am absolutely positive that there is a suitable meditation style for every single person.
